Fayetteville they had 12 trees reported down, two on homes and the rest in roadways. All the roadway trees have been cleared. They did have high waters in normally flooded areas, all of those rising waters have receded, except on Mason Street at Ray Avenue.

Crews are rebuilding tents for Raleigh Wide Open. Outdoor events will begin at 1 p.m. The new Raleigh Convention Center was opened at 11 a.m. with the International Festival taking place inside. The parade is still set for 6 p.m.

Officials with the Town of Chapel Hill say Tropical Storm Hanna has caused minimal problems for the area.

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a flash flood warning for Cumberland County, Moore County, Harnett County, Lee County, Johnston County, and Wake County until Noon edt.

Power should be back on around noon at Estes Drive and Fordham Blvd. Harris Teeter is without power and Southern Seasons will be without power until about noon.

Lee County Responds To Tropical Storm Hanna; Finds Minimal Impacts
Lee County Officials say they received several reports of down trees in the area due to Tropical Storm Hanna.  Officials say they are deactivating their Emergency Operations Center.

Several residents from Rose Lane off of Poole Road were issued a voluntary evacuation Saturday morning. A CAT bus was used to transport the residents to a safe area.

Durham Communications:
There are several reports of trees down or coming across power lines throughout the county.
Some of the areas include:

  • Angier Ave and Glover where a tree is down and blocking the roadway.
  • Ticket and Garrett Road
  • Glenschool Road and Interstate 85
  • Highway 54 and Kestrel

We are getting reports of rainfall totals around the area from viewers. Here is what we have received: Hillsborough: 5.75 inches, Apex: 5.2 inches and Fuquay-Varina: 5.07 inches.

Volunteer evacuating Grove Park Apts. most residents are moving to other side of apartment complex and evacuations are also taking place at Rose Lane Street.  

Wake County Emergency Management is voluntarily evacuating about 40 homes along Rose Lane. They are offering cat buses to people to be transferred to shelters if need be.

Emergency shelter has been set up at Garner United Methodist in Garner on 201 Methodist Drive. It will be activated at 10 a.m. this morning.

Firefighters are now going door to door recommending people to self evacuate from the Grove Park Apartments. Millbrook Exchange Park has been set-up as a shelter for those who don't have a place to go.

An emergency shelter has been opened at Smith Middle School. Brookwood Apartments, Camelot Village and Ridgefield Apartments on South Estes Drive have experienced localized flooding. Residents have been notified and were advised to evacuate by law enforcement. 

If there are no evacuees by 9:00 a.m. the shelter will close.

A lot of widespread power outages are reported, some high voltage lines down, blown transformers. A couple of trees down across a few roads, no injuries or major damage reported. Wait until daylight to send out crews for storm damage assessment.

Rain bands are coming and going in Fayetteville while the wind is picking up as the night goes on.
 
Sixty-five people have taken advantage of the two shelters set up in Cumberland County by the Red Cross. The shelter set up at Mac Williams Middle School has run out of cots for people and are asking anyone coming to the shelter to bring what they would want to sleep on. Both shelters have registered nurses on duty as well.
 
According to EMS Director Scottie Harris, no reports of flooding or accident have come in but the national weather service is projecting the eye of the storm to cross over Fayetteville sometime between 6 and 8 a.m.

Flash flood warnings have been extended to all of the area now including Chatham, Durham, Orange, Franklin, Vance, Person, Granville and Warren counties.

A flash flood warning has been issued for Wake, Cumberland, Johnston, Harnett and Sampson counties until 7:30 a.m.

According to Fayetteville emergency services, there are 69 people in the shelters. They talked with the National Weather Service at midnight and they said that the eye of the storm is expected to hit the area between 6 and 8 a.m. No flooding or major incidences reported.

Speedy Tropical Storm Hanna Charges For Carolinas
Tropical Storm Hanna cruised toward the Carolinas on Friday, forecast to hit land overnight and promising to deliver gusty winds and heavy rain during a dash up the Eastern Seaboard that could wash out the weekend for millions of people.

Triangle Transit will run its scheduled service on Saturday, Sept. 6. Officials say service may be temporarily suspended if winds from Tropical Storm Hanna reach 40 mph or higher.
