The mother of the Cary man accused of killing his wife took the stand Wednesday in the Brad Cooper murder trial.
Carol Cooper testified she was in shock after Nancy's murder and described her son, Brad, as "traumatized."
Cooper testified she heard on the news that Brad was going to be arrested and that she went downstairs to tell her son. She said within 15 minutes police were at Brad’s house.
Cooper testified the family did not attend public memorials because they wanted to stay out of the public eye and grieve in private.
Brad Cooper is charged with first-degree murder in the 2008 death of his wife Nancy.
