The University of North Carolina released more documents relating to the probe by the NCAA on Tuesday.
There are more than 80 pages of documents the school has released. NBC-17 is reviewing the documents now.
The documents provide an inside glimpse into the academics department, and detail the expectations of tutors and mentors.
For example, one document addressed to tutors encourages the tutors to make sure the athletes are doing the work themselves.
“Tutor dependency is actively discouraged,” the letter states.
No plagiarism is to be tolerated, and tutors with concerns are encouraged to report their concerns.
But a document aimed at mentors for student-athletes makes it clear that the mentors may be dealing with students who face significant challenges in the UNC classrooms.
“Some student-athletes lack the proper preparation for college work from high school,” the document states. “There are extreme demands on the time of a student-athlete with practice, travel, team meetings, and academics. There are also the pressures of winning and losing, eligibility concerns, family demands and the list goes on.”
