The investigation involving a Clayton man charged with sex crimes continues as two more victims have come forward alleging incidents that happened while the suspect was a teacher at a local school.
Paul Clifton Canally, 29, is now facing additional charges after a fourth and fifth victim came forward.
Authorities say the latest victims were students at Archer's Lodge Middle School, where Canally was employed at the time of the alleged incidents. Officials say the offenses did not occur at the school, but rather at the suspect's home.
The offenses are believed to have happened between Sept. and Dec. 2008 for the fourth victim and between April and May 2009 for the fifth victim. Both victims were under 16 at the time and their identities are being withheld.
"During the time that Mr. Canally was employed with Johnston County schools, the school system was never aware of any allegations of sexual misconduct," read a statement from the school district.
The statement from Johnston Co. schools goes on to say that there was a complaint against Canally in 2009, but did not involve alleged sexual misconduct. A review of the complaint was conducted and Canally resigned on July 27, 2009.
Canally is now facing two additional felony counts of indecent liberties with a child and two additional felony counts of sex offense with a student.
He was already facing:
His total bond amount is now set at $2.48 million.
The investigation is still ongoing and authorities continue to investigate whether there may be more victims or additional charges to be filed. Anyone that may have additional information on the investigation is asked to call the Clayton Police Department.
