Wake parents concerned about late and unsafe buses

By Charlotte Huffman

Wake County Schools is still getting flooded with calls about late school buses.

One of those calls was from a parent who contacted NBC-17 saying, his third grader had a rough trip home and doesn’t feel safe on the school bus.

“As soon as he got home he basically rushed to my office and told me – ‘Dad we had the worst bus driver ever,’” said parent Ehab Abouseido.

He says his third grader told him the bus driver almost crashed into a car, went up on a curb and nearly hit a tree.

NBC-17 contacted the school district to see if the allegations were true.

A district spokesperson says the transportation staff did investigate the incident and talked to the driver. The driver claims it was just a soft bump on the curb.

The district says the driver is safe and reliable, adding he’s been driving for years and has an impeccable safety record.

As for the late buses, Wake Schools says it’s trying to determine which bus routes need to be split up to ensure they’re on time.
