Wake school board will address bus issue

By Nbc17 Staff

The torrent of parent complaints about school buses has caught the attention of the Wake County Board of Education.

Board chair Kevin Hill told NBC-17 Thursday that the board will address the issue when it meets Tuesday.

“It’s going to take adding some buses,” Hill said.

Parents erupted in frustration this week as buses were late as traditional schools were back in session starting Monday.

As for the late buses, Wake Schools says it’s trying to determine which bus routes need to be split up to ensure they’re on time.

About 48 fewer buses are on routes this year because of budget cuts. Superintendent Tony Tata said earlier this week there are 900 buses going to 25,000 bus stops and carrying 80,000 children.
