By Nbc17 Staff

Detectives say a University of North Carolina woman found dead inside her apartment was murdered.

Chapel Hill Police are investigating the death of 19-year-old Faith Danielle Hedgepeth, whose body was discovered Friday around 11 a.m. by her friends inside Hedgepeth's home at 5639 Old Chapel Hill Road.

According to police, Hedgepeth lives in the Hawthorne on the View Apartment complex.

Police don’t believe the incident is random and a cause of death has not been determined.

UNC sent an email to students around 5:30 p.m. Friday to let them know of the "sudden death of one of our students."

According to the email, UNC stated that authorities did not think any other students, faculty or staff were in danger.

According to Hedgepeth's coworkers at the Red Robin in Durham, the restaurant is having a "tough time."
