Thousands attend vigil for slain UNC student

A vigil was held Monday night for a UNC student who was found murdered in her apartment.

The vigil was held at The Pit at 8 p.m. for a “celebration of life” for Faith Hedgepeth.

Thousands of people were in attendance, including students, faculty, family and friends.

On Friday, friends found the 19-year-old dead inside here apartment at the Hawthorne on the View apartment complex.

Police haven’t said how she died, but they’re treating the case as a homicide.

Monday night’s vigil was hosted by the UNC American Indian Center, Carolina Indian Circle and Alpha Chapter of Alpha Pi Omega sorority.
