Active Aging Alliance helping seniors in Johnston Co.

Posted: Updated:
CLAYTON, N.C. -

At the Johnston County Senior Center in Clayton, an increasing number of seniors come daily for all kinds of activities like art and exercise.

Rebecca Freeman with the Community of Senior Services for Johnston County says they're trying to be proactive in having programs available, that will be preventative in nature so those senior citizens can be active an involved.  However, space at their current location is at a minimum.

The Seymour Center in Orange County is a facility with 25,000 square feet, with plans to double that size.  The Clayton Senior Activity Center only has 4,000 square feet to work with, and they need more room.

The Active Aging Alliance hopes to change that by getting volunteers and raising the funds needed to improve the lives of seniors that have no intention of slowing down.

If you would like more information about the Active Aging Alliance or would like to inquire about volunteering, you can call Rebecca Freeman at 919-934-6066, or check out their web site at www.cssjohnston.org
