Former Lenior Co. teacher arrested for stealing field trip money

Kinston police arrested and charged former teacher Amanda Grady with obtaining property by false pretense on Monday.
According to WITN, Grady, 32, pocketed money from students at Kinston High School who wanted to travel to Washington DC for Inauguration Day.
Lenior County Schools confirmed that Grady was a social studies teacher at Kinston High School from Jan. 23, 2012 until Jan. 25. 2013. She resigned after school officials found out about the field trip that was never approved.
Students paid $300 each in advance for the trip. Brady took $1,450 for personal use.
