Man arrested in murder of 2 at Henderson motel

HENDERSON, N.C. -

Edward Hawkins, of Tripp Street in Henderson, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in relation to the shooting deaths of two at the Scottish Inn.

Henderson police responded to the Scottish Inn motel on the 1700 block of N. Garnett Street shortly after 3:15 a.m on Feb 16.

When officers arrived, they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on scene shortly afterwards and pronounced both of the victims dead.

Police identified the victims Kenya Odessa Hodges, 34, and Jerome Kearney, 33. Both are from Henderson.

Hawkins is in the Vance County Jail under no bond.
