Emergency preparedness kits for severe weather awareness week

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

It is important to be prepared when severe weather strikes.  If you're home is damaged or destroyed by severe storms, you'll need emergency supplies.

One thing every family should have is an emergency preparedness kit, and right now is the time to put the together, before severe weather strikes.

The kit should include non-perishable food items, water, baby food items, blankets, cash, important papers, a weather radio, batteries, a flashlight, personal hygiene items and a lantern, along with anything else you may need if you are without power for several days.
