Durham police make arrest in 2011 homicide

DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police have made an arrested in connection with a July 2011 shooting death. 

The incident happened around 12:06 p.m. on July 5, 2011 on Hardee Street near Naples Place. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man lying in the grass with a gunshot wound. 

Police said the shooting occurred during an altercation between the victim, Orlando Martinez, 32, and the suspect. 

On Thursday, police arrested and charged Miguel Antonio Meza-Rodriguez, 22, with murder in Martinez's death. 

Meza-Rodriguez was one of seven people charged in connection with the murder of 44-year-old Santiago Hernandez-Arrendendo, which happened on July 17, 2011 off N.C. 98 near Falls Lake in Wake County. 

Meza-Rodriguez is facing charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with that case.
