DUNN, N.C. -
A Dunn woman has won $1 million with a scratch off lottery
ticket.
The winning Ruby Red 7's instant ticket, purchased for $10, was sold
at the Kangaroo Express on Long Branch Road in Dunn.
Dianna Sills, chose to take the lump sum of $600,000. After taxes she'll get about $408,006.
"The big
thing I thought I'd always like to do is buy a house at the beach," Sills said
in a written release. "That was my dream."
Since the
lottery began, Harnett County education programs have received
more than $28.7 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers'
salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for
at-risk four-year-olds, and college scholarships and financial aid based on
need.
To date, the
North Carolina Education Lottery has raised more than $2.6 billion for these
initiatives statewide.
