2 charged in connection with shooting teen in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. -

Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Durham that left a teen injured. 

Officers responded to a shooting call shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday on Briggs Ave. near Liberty Street. When they arrived to the scene, officers found a 17-year-old lying on the side of the road with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Witnesses told authorities that the victim and a friend were walking on Briggs Ave. when a green Cadillac Seville with three people inside pulled up beside them and began talking to them before a shot was fire. 

Deputies arrested Shelly Polk, 30, and Victor Brown, 17, and charged them with assault with a weapon. Brown was also charged with resisting an officer and Polk was charged with being an accessory after the fact. The third suspect in the car ran away from officers. 

Polk and Brown are being held in the Durham County Jail under a $750,000 bond each.
