Customers of the Fayetteville Public Works Commission will see a rate increase in May and again in 2014.
The rate increases were passed by a 4-0 vote by the PWC board this morning.
Beginning in May, customers with only water service will see an increase of 73 cents a month. Sewer customers rates will increase by 60 cents a month.
Customers with both water and sewer service will pay an extra $1.33 a month. In 2014, customers with sewer and water will pay an extra $1.50 a month.
PWC officials say rising operation costs are the cause of the rate increases.
According to their website, PWC serves approximately 76,000 residential water customers.
