Approximately 3,500 gallons of sewage overflowed from a manhole in Fuquay-Varina Wednesday.
The impacted area was washed down and any solids were removed and disposed of properly.
It has been verified that the overflow was caused by an electrical/mechanical failure of the pump station equipment, which has now been repaired and is working properly.
The spill did not cause any damaging impact to the stream or surrounding area.
