Fayetteville police have a 21-year-old suspect in custody after he barricaded himself in a house on Branchwood Circle.

Police responded to a call just after 5 p.m. to the 7600 block of Branchwood Circle to assist officers with serving an arrest warrant on a male subject.

When officers arrived, the male suspect barricaded himself in the residence. Officers then set up a perimeter a quarter mile wide and secured the area.

Gavin McRoberts with the Fayetteville Police Department identified the suspect as 21-year-old "D.J." Terrence Cordell.

A child inside the residence left the house safely.

Negotiators attempted to talk the suspect out of the residence.

At 9:30 p.m., Cordell came out of the residence and was taken into custody.
