The Wake County Jail confirmed Monday night that Daniel Shawn Evans, a 15-year veteran of the N.C. General Assembly Police Department, was arrested on several sex charges involving children.
The charges stem from incidents that date back to 2002.
Evans is in custody on $1 million bond.
He is scheduled for a court appearance April 18 and faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree rape, statutory rape, first-degree sex offense with a child and indecent liberties with a child.
