NC State hosts entrepreneurs from across ACC

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Atlantic Coast Conference basketball tournaments are over, but the format returns for a collegiate entrepreneurship competition at North Carolina State University.
    
The contest on Wednesday involves teams representing ACC universities, plus Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse, which are joining the conference.
    
Teams show off their big ideas for a business in playoffs Wednesday afternoon, with the final four competing in the evening.
    
A Georgia Tech team developed a shoe insole that converts each step's pressure into a small electric current to recharge a mobile phone.
    
Many products are software applications for smart phones. A University of Pittsburgh team developed an education technology app that alerts nurses, lawyers and others required to keep up on changes in their field when they need to enroll in continuing education.
