A candidate for North Carolina's Republican Party chairman is seeking to build momentum by rolling out more endorsements.
Claude Pope's campaign released statements of support Friday from Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate leader Phil Berger. The former Wake County Republican Party chairman also released an endorsement this week from U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.
Gov. Pat McCrory already is backing Pope. Pope's team released a video earlier this week with McCrory urging fellow Republicans to back him when the state party convention is held in June in Charlotte.
Charlotte businessman and former congressional candidate Jack Brosch also has said he wants to run for chairman.
Current Chairman Robin Hayes says he won't seek re-election for another two-year term.
