Newport man dies in skydiving accident

NEWPORT, N.C. -

The Martin County Sheriff's Office and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating a fatal skydiving incident.

Lt. Drew Robinson tells 9 On Your Side it happened around 11:20 Saturday morning at the Martin County Airport. The victim is 56-year-old Frank Albert Plisko of Newport.

According to the Tradewind Sky Sports website, Plisko is a skydiving instructor and EMT/paramedic. The company is located at the Martin County Airport.

Friends say Plisko was skydiving with his sons when he died. They say he was an adventurous man who loved the outdoors. Neighbors say Plisko was retired from the army special forces and enjoyed life.

 No further details were released as this incident is still under investigation.
