KINSTON, N.C. -

Kinston Police have arrested a suspect in a double shooting earlier this month.

Police say 22-year-old Desmond Lovell Pearson, of Kinston, was arrested and charged with first degree murder and attempted murder for the shootings that happened on April 12.

Jahad Moore was killed in the incident and Jacoby Riddick was shot in the leg.

Police say Pearson was already in the Wayne County Jail, arrested earlier this week on unrelated charges. Pearson is now in the Lenoir County Jail under no bond.

Police are still looking for one or more shooters who opened fire in an area of Kinston Friday night.

It happened at the intersection of East and Washington streets.

Someone shot 18-year old Jahad Moore in the head and 24-year-old Jacoby Riddick in the leg.

Emergency crews say both men were still alive when they got there, but Moore later died at the scene and Riddick was taken to the hospital.

No one in the area wanted to talk on camera, but several people told 9 On Your Side they heard at least five gunshots.

Police have yet to release the names of any potential suspects or persons of interest.

"One conducting interviews with any possible witnesses but were also searching door to door block by block to see if we can locate two suspects," said Bill Johnson, Director of Public Safety.

Investigators want anyone with information to come forward.
