Band Together tops $800,000 in funds for Tammy Lynn Center

Posted: Updated:

Band Together already has raised more than $800,000 for the Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh, Band Together executive director Matt Strickland said Friday.

The effort will culminate in a concert May 4 at Koka Booth Ampitheatre in Cary. Lyle Lovett will be this year's headline act for Band Together, joined by Delta Rae, Chatham County Line and Mac and Juice.

Tickets for the concert are available here.

WNCN is the media partner for Band Together, which uses live music as a platform for social change. WNCN's Penn Holderness and Page Crawford will be on stage hosting the event.

Band Together was founded to spark charitable work after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Last year, Band Together raised $566,000 for Urban Ministries of Wake County. The effort, founded to spark charitable work after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, plans to raise even more this year.

Lovett is well-known to music fans as a singer, composer and actor with a broad career that spans 14 albums. The Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner.

Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, and on stage and television.  Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association's inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.

Lovett has been touring in support of Release Me since its release in February. The album was No. 1 for several weeks on the Americana charts. Release Me is quintessential Lyle, mixing a smart collection of originals and songs written by some of his favorite songwriters that show not only the breadth of this Texas legend's deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences.
