Two men are behind bars charged with attempted first degree murder and assault following a fight at an Ayden convenience store Monday night.
Ayden Police Chief Barry Stanley tells 9 On Your Side two men attacked a third man in the U.S. Mini Mart on Lee Street in Ayden just before 9:00 Monday night. Police say the men later identified as Omar Langley and Melvin Forbes threw Daniel Green through the door of the store. The fight then continued in the parking lot, where Stanley says someone shot a gun several times.
That's when an Ayden Police Officer on foot patrol in the area responded and talked with the victim. The suspects got away. Police say Green was not cooperative with the investigation.
After tracking down the store's owner and obtaining surveillance video, police were able to track down Langley and Forbes. Forbes was taken into custody in Ayden. Langley was taken into custody at a home in Winterville, with assistance from Winterville Police.
Langley and Forbes are both in jail charged with attempted first-degree murder. Langley's bond is set at $785,000. Forbes' is set at $755,000. Police say both men are known gang members in the area.
Police say the victim only had minor injuries from the scuffle.
Authorities are expected to release the results of autopsies on the two bodies recovered from the fiery crash that killed "Fast & Furious" actor Paul Walker and his friend.
"Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker was killed by injuries from both the impact and subsequent fire when the Porsche his friend was driving smashed into a light pole and tree, according to an autopsy released Wednesday.
