A fundraiser for breast cancer awareness brought some local bands to a downtown Raleigh bar on Thursday night.
"Bands Against Breast Cancer" brought together three Raleigh-based bands at the Tir Na Nog Irish Pub. The acts included Catch 22, I am Maddox and River City Ransom.
Proceeds from the event benefit a local branch of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. That money will help with breast cancer awareness.
"So it could be something as easy as education here in Raleigh. It could be funding mammograms in Moore County," Komen marketing director Brad Young said. "It could be helping people find out about places they can get screened in Wilmington."
One of the people helping out with the effort was Nation Hahn. His wife, Jamie Hahn, was brutally murdered inside their home last week. Nation Hahn helped recruit some of the bands that performed.
"A week ago, we were exchanging e-mails back and forth talking about tonight, talking about this event and his life was together and he had it all going strong and a couple of days later, tragedy strikes," Catch 22 band member Will Hardison said.
