White bike marks spot where Raleigh's Mangum killed

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

A white bicycle in Raleigh is a touching roadside memorial to Christopher Mangum, a community leader who was hit and killed near North Hills  May 2.

The white bicycle is located at the corner of Lassiter Mill and Marlowe roads, where the accident happened.

Mangum's family started the C.C. Mangum construction firm, which grew to be one of the state's largest road contractors. He also founded a non-profit, Jobs For Life, that ministers to the unemployed.

Driver Thomas Castelloe, 81, is charged with hitting him and faces misdemeanor death by motor vehicle charges.

Mangum was 58.
