NC woman maimed in Boston bombing comes home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

A North Carolina woman maimed in last month's Boston Marathon bombings is back home.

Nicole Gross smiled and held back tears after landing in Charlotte with her husband Michael on Saturday.

Nicole says she'll have to learn how to walk again after suffering leg fractures and a severed Achilles tendon from the first explosion. The 31-year-old fitness trainer, her husband, and her sister were waiting for Nicole's mother near the finish line.

Nicole Gross spent the past month and more in recovery and rehab at Boston hospitals.

Michael Gross was hospitalized the night of the bombings for cuts and burns. The 33-year-old athletic club manager was at his wife's side since the April 15 blasts.

Nicole's sister, Erika Brannock of Maryland, is still recovering after one leg was partially amputated.
