We talked to the witness who saw one of the robberies happen. He says he noticed a white Ford Explorer with the license plate covered by a black rag. He then saw a man run across the street, and says the explorer then sped off and picked that man up. The witness then saw the explorer again without the cover on the tag and called it in to police. After a standoff that lasted several hours, Greenville Police have taken into custody the man believed to have robbed a Chocowinity Dollar General Tuesday.

It all happened at the Carriage House apartment complex in Greenville starting around 2pm. That's just across the street from Kangaroo Express and Fitness Connection.

Charles Blvd. was blocked both ways for hours.

Nearby apartments were evacuated as a security precaution while the scene unfolded.

Greenville Police, the Pitt County Sheriff's Office and NC Highway patrol were on scene. The Greenville police Emergency Response Team surrounded the apartment with guns drawn.

Officers cornered 55-year-old Adula Wali Allah, better known as Linwood Duffie, inside one of the apartments. They believe he could have played a part in several other robberies around Pitt County.

Tactical negotiators responded to the scene. They said there were no hostages inside the apartment with Allah. They tried to talk to him through a bag phone. They used pole camera, and a robot with a mounted camera to search the apartments.

While searching they found and arrested 16-year-old Kumetrius Friason. Chocowinity police believe he robbed the Dollar General with Allah.

We talked to Ben Stocks who found Allah hiding in his cable utility box behind his apartment. Stocks says the cable went out in his house. When he walked out to see why, he found Allah in the box. He says Allah tried to pay him to keep quiet.

Finally police arrested and escorted Allah to a squad car.

Both men are being charged with armed robbery. Allah is also facing 1 count of misdemeanor breaking & entering in Greenville. Police are still investigating if the pair was involved in any other robberies in the area. They say more charges could be on the way.
