Toddler killed in Duplin Co. hit-and-run; Troopers looking for suspect

The State Highway Patrol needs help locating a suspected wanted in connection with a deadly hit-and-run accident involving a 21-month-old from Duplin County.

Highway Patrol says 21-month-old Ismael Lopez Aleman wandered onto Garner Chapel Road and was struck by a vehicle between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday. After hitting the child, the driver drove off towards the city of Mount Olive.

Authorities are looking for the suspect's car, which is described as a dark-colored Chrysler Sebring or a Dodge Stratus. The vehicle will have damage to the right front portion of the vehicle, particularly to the right headlight.

Anyone with information about the location of this vehicle and driver is asked to call the North Carolina State Highway Patrol at 1-800-334-7411.
