Father's Day is this Sunday and Dr. Campbell focused on men's health and well-being on this Wednesday's segment.
Dr. Campbell says that many men take better care of their cars and boats than they do themselves and more than half of premature deaths in U.S. men are preventable.
The segment included various things men can do to be healthy. Dr. Campbell suggests men be tobacco free, physically active and maintain both a healthy diet and a healthy weight. Many diseases such as diabetes and sleep apnea are preventable with good weight management.
Health maintenance is very important and prevention is key to a long life. Simple tests for blood pressure and cholesterol can prevent heart disease. At age 50, screening tests for prostate cancer and colon cancer are important and skin cancer screenings should begin at age 20 and continue throughout life.
