Executive: Global company will be in Triangle by Sept. 1

RALEIGH, N.C. -

Evalueserve, a global company that provides custom professional research and analytics services to clients around the world, plans to have a presence in the Triangle by Sept. 1, a company executive said Tuesday.

"We want to move fast," said Ravi Mehrotra in an interview from his office near Philadelphia.

Gov. Pat McCrory's office announced Monday that Evalueserve would create 400 new jobs in North Carolina by 2017 and invest more than $5.9 million in its Wake County location.

Mehrotra, whose title is Global Business Unit Head, Corporates and Professional Services, said Evalueserve also looked at Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Penn., and Austin, Texas.

Eventually, Evalueserve plans to have 400 people based in the Triangle, but it will take time to build up the work force to that size.

Still, the move is a big one for the company, which has 2,600 employees worldwide. Most of its American employees work virtually, Mehrotra said, and the company wanted an office facility.

"We wanted to create a formal presence for our infrastructure," he said.

The Triangle was appealing because of its strong universities and attractive business culture. And Evalueserve's core business -- data analytics -- fits in well with an area known for having a well-educated population.

"We are a company that relies heavily on knowledge professionals," Mehrotra said. "At the end of the day, this is a professional services firm that relies heavily on data."

The governor's office put the annual payroll for the jobs at $24 million annually.

Asked the average salary for the employees, Mehrotra said, "I would not like to comment yet. We have a number of different roles, different profiles. Some have a smaller amount of experience. It depends on the role.

"They will be knowledge workers, so they will be well-paying jobs."

Mehrotra said some current employees will move to the Triangle, and some jobs will be filled with new employees.
