CARY, N.C. -

The United States Army Reserve Center in Cary was named in honor of a local soldier killed in action.

The reserve center was named after Spc. Daniel Lucas Elliott from Youngsville. Elliot served during Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn.

He died July 15, 2011, after his vehicle was struck by an IED.

Hundreds attended the ceremony including Elliot's wife and parents

The 81st Regional Support Command hosted the memorialization ceremony Saturday at the reserve center in Cary located at 3677 N.C. Highway 55.
