Video released of man tased at Ayden Walmart

AYDEN, N.C. -

Ayden Police have released video after having to tase a man outside the Walmart in Ayden Saturday.

Police responded to a disturbance at the Handy Mart on Hwy 102 around 3:30 P.M. and followed 22-year-old Jacob Strickland, of Wilson, to the Wal-Mart when he wouldn't answer commands.

Ayden Police Chief Barry Stanley said Strickland was acting "aggressive" towards the officers.

Strickland was tased twice after fighting the officers. The three officers on scene subdued Strickland.

He was taken to Vidant Medical Center for a toxicology screening after admitting to officers he took acid. A mental evaluation may be ordered.

The charges are 3 counts of assault, 1 count of damage to property, and 1 count of resist, delay and obstruct.
