Three North Carolina cities,
including Garner in Wake County, have been named as All-American Cities by the
National Civic League.
Garner, Dunn and Thomasville were
all honored with the award this weekend. The competition recognizes cities with
civic activists and community problem-solvers.
Garner highlighted its Veterans Park
and its efforts to block plans to put the Triangle Expressway through
Previous Triangle area cities that
have won the honor include Durham In 1982 and Raleigh in 1974.
Amtrak services are delayed in Morrisville due to a freight trail derailment, authorities said.
