UNC-Chapel Hill to conduct emergency drill

Posted: Updated:
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is conducting a drill at a campus library to determine how the school works with emergency responders.

The exercise will be held between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Library.

Actors will portray gunmen, hostages and victims to simulate the university's response to a campus emergency. Police officers will be stationed around the perimeter of the emergency drill area, which will be marked with barricades and signs. Emergency vehicles and personnel will be visible in and around the library area.

During the drill there will be no access to the seventh and eighth floors of Davis Library. The area surrounding the library will be blocked to pedestrians and vehicles, and Chapel Hill Transit service will be re-routed.
