An American Legion team pitcher struck in head by a line drive during a weekend game has been released from the hospital.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that Brandon Norton was released from Mission Hospital Tuesday. Norton suffered a fractured skull when he was hit above the right ear with two outs in the ninth inning of Asheville Post 47's road game against Hickory.
Coach J.D. Hinson said the ball hit Norton with such force that it bounced back toward the plate.
Stoney Norton said the injury caused his son to have some bleeding around the brain and that there was still swelling late Monday afternoon. He said his son is concerned about being able to play again.
