GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Highway Patrol Troopers have identified a Rocky Mount man killed in a crash Monday morning in Pitt County.

Troopers say 54-year-old William Thorp was killed around 8 a.m. near the intersection of NC Highway 30 and Oakley Road.

Troopers say a Dodge pickup truck pulling an empty horse trailer ran a stop sign and hit Thorp's Toyota Prius.

The driver of the truck was identified as 37-year-old Jermaine Broken-Borough of Washington, NC. Broken-Borough was taken to Vidant Medical Center. Officials there tell us he was in surgery Monday afternoon.

29-year-old Christopher Cannon of Greenville was in the passenger seat of the Dodge pickup. He was treated and released from Vidant.

The truck's driver, Jermaine Broken-Burough, had a Virginia registration, but troopers think he had just moved to North Carolina.
