FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center was placed on lockdown as a safety precaution Thursday morning.

Officials said it is standard procedure to place the Emergency Department on lockdown when a patient comes to the hospital with gunshot wounds related to a potential crime.

The hospital lifted the lockdown after the CFVMS security team fully assessed the situation.
