Durham man arrested for robbery on American Tobacco Trail

DURHAM, N.C. -

Durham police investigators arrested a man late Thursday and charged him with robbing two men on June 18 on the American Tobacco Trail.

Investigators charged Derrick Wells, 22, of Otis Street with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $500,000 bond.

Two males were walking on the trail between Otis Street and Fayetteville around 5:20 p.m. on June 18 when two males approached them and robbed them at gunpoint.  The suspects took $4 and a phone from the victims.

The second suspect has not been identified at this time.
