Fayetteville police are searching for a suspect responsible for robbing a Family Dollar store July 21.

Police said the suspect entered the store, located at 3426 Bragg Blvd., around 8:45 p.m. and walked around the store. The suspect proceeded to the checkout to complete a purchase.

When the cashier was completing the transaction, the suspect went around the counter, placed an object in the clerk's back and began demanding money from the register, police said.

The suspect is also accused of striking the clerk in the head during the robbery. Police said the clerk was not seriously injured and the suspect fled from the business on foot towards the direction of Carol Street.

Anyone with information concerning the robbery or the identity of the suspect, is asked to call Detective M. Taylor with the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 303-9751 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
