SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -

North Carolina's Air Force base is celebrating the end of summer with a private bash open to members of the 4th Fighter Wing, airmen who keep the jets aloft, and their families.

Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is scheduled to hold an end-of-the-summer blast Friday evening with music, magic, a play area for children and fireworks.

The event at the Goldsboro base is open to Department of Defense identification card holders.

The 4th Fighter Wing is home to the F-15E Strike Eagle, 1 of the Air Force's premiere fighter jets. The unit has 5,000 active-duty men and women, and the base has another 12,000 civilians.
