Project Drive-In could help save Henderson theater

Posted: Updated:
HENDERSON, N.C. -

In less than 3 months, the movie industry is switching from film to digital projectors, leaving many drive-in theaters facing closure. A contest, sponsored by Honda, is looking to save five drive-in theaters by donating digital projectors.

A local drive-in could face closure without the help of Project Drive-In.

The Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre is located about a hour north of Raleigh in Henderson, has been open for 63 years.

Online voters can do their part to have an $80,000 projector donated to the theatre by visiting Project Drive-In. Voting ends Sept. 9.
