An employee of a Sanford scrap yard died Monday after a bale of copper wiring fell onto him.
Sanford Police say an employee at Lee Iron & Metal was operating a forklift around a large stack of copper wiring bales when he exited the forklift and a bale fell onto him.
Police say the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time until notification of next of kin is made.
Lee Iron & Metal is located at 2219 South Horner Blvd. in Sanford.
Family and friends of six people who died in a house fire paid their respects Sunday evening. Flames ripped through a mobile home on Gibbs Road just outside the town of Garland in Sampson County early Saturday morning.
