BOONE, N.C. -

Classes are beginning Watauga County schools after they were evacuated because of a bomb threat.

The school district said classes were resuming at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after all the building were completed and no explosives were found.

Boone police say someone called around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and said there was a bomb in an unspecified school in the county.

Sheriff Lee Hagaman says the schools were evacuated as a precaution. Officers moved students to safe locations on or near school campuses.

Several fire departments helped search of the buildings.

There are about 4,500 students in the school district.
