FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

After being Tasered by an officer Monday, a woman armed with scissors stole a police car and then crashed it, Fayetteville Police said.

Police were called to the area of Campground Church Road near Nix Road around 5:20 p.m. Monday in response to a suspicious person with a weapon. When officers arrived, they found a woman who was armed with a scissors.

During attempts to diffuse the situation, police say the officer deployed a Taser, which was ineffective against the woman. She then stole a police vehicle and drove it about a quarter of a mile before crashing.

Four vehicles were involved in the crash at the intersection of Morganton and Skibo roads, and the extent of injuries is unknown.

The suspect was taken into custody and has been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for evaluation.

Police originally thought the woman had a hammer.
