KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

Police say a Kingsport school bus carrying children was hit by a driver who ran a red light Wednesday morning.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Afton Street and West Stone Drive just before 7 a.m.

Officers say the driver of a red Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound on Stone Drive, ran a red light, and hit the front end of the bus.

Police say fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.

Most of the students were picked up by another bus, while others were picked up by parents and taken to school at either Sevier Middle or Dobyns-Bennett.

The driver of the Caravan was charged with failure to yield.
