False report leads to lock down of several Unicoi Co. schools

UNICOI COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

Officials with Unicoi County Schools confirm the lock down has been lifted at several schools. Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley tells News Channel 11 there was a report of a robbery on Martins Creek Road near the schools, but the robbery call turned out to be a false report.

The false report triggered the lock down of Unicoi County High School, Unicoi County Middle School, Unicoi County Intermediate School, Love Chapel Elementary and CTE between 1 and 2 p.m.

Sheriff Hensley says charges will be placed on the people who filed the false robbery report.

The Unicoi County School system has locked down several of its schools after a nearby robbery.

A spokesperson for Unicoi County Schools tells News Channel 11 Unicoi County High School, Unicoi County Middle School, Unicoi County Intermediate School, Love Chapel Elementary and CTE are all locked down for precautionary reasons.
