Tampa mom stovetop business goes national

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A Tampa mom stirred up a successful business right on her kitchen stovetop. A year later she's had to move into a warehouse because of a huge spike in orders.

"Well pretty much we went from my kitchen to the garage and then we grew so quickly in a year we've been able to come in here and start making it here in this warehouse," said Amy Cazin, the founder of Primal Pit Paste.

The all natural products packed with all the natural ingredients to stave off body odor is now being manufactures in Land O' Lakes.

"We produce about 5000 units a day and have about 200 stores across the nation lining up for orders," Cazin said.

The mother of two came up with the idea when she couldn't find an all natural deodorant that worked for her two pre-teen daughters.

"Either they didn't work or I found ingredients that were still contained in products claiming to be completely natural," Cazin said, warning consumers to keep an eye out for suspect ingredients or oils that still contain aluminum and  parabens.

Parabens are a class of chemicals widely used as preservatives by cosmetic and pharmaceutical.

"I use all organic essential oils and when I started handing them out to mommy bloggers and people who embrace an all natural lifestyle I think they were blown away about how well it worked," Cazin said.

With eye-grabbing labeling compliments of a family friend who is an architect, and great reviews from online writers, Cazin's product is now being sold all over the world.

"Moms Making It" is an ongoing series now airing on News Channel 8. If you know of women who have worked away from corporate jobs to spend more time with family, or to find their dream job, send me an email at gguyardo@wfla.com or find me on Facebook and Twitter.
