Bay Area man thinks medical marijuana can save the life of young cancer patient

Moriah Barnhart believes marijuana can save the life of her two-year-old daughter.

Dahlia Barnhart has a cancerous tumor on her brain.

She is currently being treated at St. Jude Hospital.

Moriah says, "Conventional medicine and doctors have saved my daughter's life several times since May."

She also believes the conventional treatment of chemotherapy that her daughter is receiving may have a long term impact on her daughter.

Barnhart says, "My hands are tied when it comes to options. Chemotherapy and radiation are your only options."

After researching the issue, Barnhart says she believes a chemical derived from marijuana can help, "The Cannabinoids that they are using are shown to kill the cancer cells, to induce apoptosis and do not harm the surrounding healthy tissue."

Bob Jordan understands, "It's heartbreaking, you turn around and you see a little kid and your heart goes out to em."

Jordan's wife has Lou Gehrig's disease and he says marijuana is keeping her alive.

Jordan says, "I am still keeping my wife alive with cannabis and the heartbreaking thing for us is; we know what's out there. We know there is stuff out there that can help her."

Jordan says he believes marijuana can help with a number of health conditions and he says research in Spain and Israel is proving it, "I've seen people with cancer, I've seen people with diabetes, I've seen people with glaucoma and it all comes from the same plant and it helps em."

Jordan is currently working with legislators in Florida to pass a bill that would permit the use of medical marijuana. He hopes help will come for little Dahlia before it's too late.
